What started as a passion for aerial photography and filmmaking has grown into a multidisciplinary media production company with a team of photographers, filmmakers, editors, drone pilots, and creative professionals who genuinely love what we do.

Airmage Media Productions began in 2019 with a simple idea: bring professional media production to a higher perspective.
Our earliest work focused heavily on aerial photography and videography, combining emerging drone technology with professional visual storytelling. But it quickly became clear that our clients needed more than a view from the sky.
So we kept building.
Photography became video production. Video expanded into commercial campaigns. Commercial work grew into events, healthcare, real estate, social media, content strategy, and ongoing marketing partnerships.
What began as a small creative venture has grown into a multidisciplinary media company that has produced more than 1,000 projects for over 400 clients across 10+ states and 7 countries.

Shaun Deardorff founded Airmage Media Productions in 2019 at the intersection of three lifelong passions: creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship.
And his background is a little different from your typical filmmaker.
Shaun is a trained Aerospace Engineer and Ph.D. Candidate in Aerospace Engineering at NC State University, where his research focuses on origami-inspired composite deployable space structures. His aerospace career has included experience with organizations including SpaceX, Rocket Lab, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
So yes, Airmage Media Productions is led by someone who is, quite literally, a rocket scientist.
That engineering background has shaped the way we approach media production. We break complicated problems into pieces, think through systems and logistics, experiment with new technology, and constantly ask whether there is a smarter or more creative way to accomplish something. But engineering is only half the equation.
Shaun pairs that technical mindset with an endless imagination and an almost relentless desire to create. Whether the challenge is designing an innovative camera movement, finding an unexpected aerial perspective, building a visual story around a complex medical technology, or turning a client's rough idea into an entire campaign, he loves finding ways to make ideas tangible.
Outside of Airmage Media Productions, Shaun is a serial entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, researcher, mentor, and advocate. His work and leadership have been recognized through the Provost Doctoral Fellowship, Miller Fellowship for Entrepreneurship, Social Innovation Fellowship, Leazar Award in Entrepreneurship, and Eagle Scout Rank, among other honors.
Today, he leads Airmage Media Productions alongside a growing team of creative professionals while continuing to explore one question that has driven the company from the beginning:

Our background combines filmmaking, photography, aviation, engineering, entrepreneurship, marketing, and technology. That gives us an unusually broad toolkit when it comes to solving creative problems.

Then we build backward from the goal.
